Rupal Sanghvi – Founder

Rupal Sanghvi is enthusiastic about fomenting possibilities for innovation, sustainability and effectiveness in public health programming through applying tools and methodologies developed in the fields of architecture, urban design and experience design design with social justice solutions in mind. She founded HealthxDesign to identify the role of design — including the built environment–for optimizing health outcomes.

Specifically, she aims to further conceptualize and develop metrics to leverage design as a technical strategy for health programming.  She is a Principal Investigator at the Public Health Institute, a Fellow at the Design Trust for Public Space, and Faculty at Parson’s New School for Design.

Rupal has over fifteen years of experience in health promotion and disease prevention.  She has partnered with community-based non-profit organizations/NGOs, and the public sector  in infectious disease prevention, violence prevention, adolescent health promotion, and access to care for marginalized and geographically isolated groups.  Rupal has been a consistent a reviewer for the American Public Health Conference and has worked with the World Health organization, International Planned Parenthood, and the International Rescue Committee.   She received the United States Secretary of Health’s Award for Innovations in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention after earning her Master of Public Health at the University of Michigan.
